This is also happening in the Chicagoland area. We have an abandoned grade school in town, the occasional house in town, but most are in our rural areas. Unfortunately this urban blight is gonna get worse before it gets better.

We used to go to Glen Psrk threatre to see movies in late 60s. I remember watching 101 Dalmations Disney movie. It was safe my mom & her bf they took us kids there. It was so nice & fun i go past it now i remember when. So scary at ridge road & broadway now! Come on mayor step up to plate or is it just dont do anything while you reap the benefits! So sad!

I lived in Hobart til we moved to Tucson in 1972. It was getting sad. Glen Park was nice also. We go Village Shopping center. Best hot dog stand. Came back in 1991. Its do sad!!!!! The mayor's need be strong! Reclaim the city! We go to Sears & all other stores. My dad was head of security back in good days at May's Dept store & Bylow grocery stores. Miss Y&W drive inn movie so fun. Kiddieland was there. Came back to so sad but memories last. One of recent mayors drove a hummer. What up! Gary needs to be saved!!! Step up to plate whatever mayor now is nothing done! I better stop talking so sad what Gary is now!

Wasn't the Dunes Tap in that area? I know it was north of Ridge road on the west side of the street. Had my first beer in a bar there, illegal of course, fake ID. 1969.

I remember WLTH growing up as a kid in 70’s and 80’s my dad was a blues guy they would always spin something for him on request. I grew up in the same neighborhood you did love u Storm ❤ The church next door now owns the property and what I hear the pastor Charles Jones has passed 🪦 RIP.

You should check out 7 Doller shrine in South Haven Indiana. I think your wife might enjoy it. If I remember right it's on 7 mile road. It's been quite a few years since I've been there.

In the 1959 phone book 3654 Broadway was Hunch Furs and 3660 was the Christian Science Church.

I used to work at WJOB in Hammond in the late 80’s and early 90’s.. I knew several people who worked at WLTH!! Thanks for posting this!!

Somewhere on Broadway was the WWCA radio station where my uncle Tom Higgins was a DJ before he moved to chanel 5o Lakeshore television.

That DQ had the best chocolate malts. Not shakes but malts . I can't believe this. Liberally makes me sick

So nice to hear some great memories from back then. It's very cool that the radio tower is still there. There were so many little radio stations back then competing with the big guns, but the big guns didn't have that personal touch like the little guys. We need these little guys. So many big name radio personalities got their start at the small stations. I guess they were like a steppingstone for them to something bigger. I remember as a teenager how important radio stations were to me, like for most kids. They had the countdowns to the top song for that week and every kid was hoping it would be their favorite one. You could call in and ask them to play your favorite song or ask for a dedication song to someone else. Then of course there were the endless contests to win concert tickets or record albums or something else. You know what I mean .... we all hung around the radio waiting for the DJ to say "Be the 10th caller and you just got yourself freed tickets to ..." Those were fun days and worry free. Thanks for the video, Paul. You always bring me back to some great memories. I can't wait to see you again this weekend!!

Hi Storm! I looked in a 1959 phone book. The business next to the radio station then was Harmon's Kitchens. And the station back then went by WGRY the phone book says. Loved the song at the end!

I worked there when it was WLTH …. Did news, sports, weather, talk shows …. Worked with some great people too …..

It was a great little mall back in the 80's. It had everything plus a cool arcade.

There is a house and white concrete block building farther east on Ridge Rd.in Hobart, Just before Stracks which no one seems to have lived in or used in quite awhile.

And not just that, so in the future can i tell the owner of that gentleman's club can i review that place inside or outside since i remember i have a cuban friend in gym named cesar, he has to do using girls in facebook, especially the history shorts videos
